C130B HERCULES AIRCRAFT
The HC-130B was the first turbine-prop aircraft to enter Coast Guard Aviation. Built by Lockheed Aircraft Co., in Marietta,
Ga., the first one was accepted by the Coast Guard in January 1960, and others followed soon after.
The "Hercules" is an all-weather, high speed, long-range cargo land plane. Though its primary mission in the
Coast Guard is search and rescue, it also serves as a transport of emergency equipment, personnel, and cargo. (USCG)
