DESTRUCTION ISLAND LIGHT
The contributor adds "D.I. As we all called it is about 60 miles south of the Straits of Juan de Fuca at the entrance to Seattle, and a bare 3 miles offshore. Spent 8 months on this rock.....As I recall during foggy times, we had 25 seconds to get to sleep between fog horn blasts. Long ago the light and fog signal were automated."
DESTRUCTION ISLAND LIGHT LENS
2006 Richard adds "It is a first-order Fresnel lens that is located at the Westport Maritime Museum, Washington State. This light was removed from the Destruction Island Lighthouse after the lighthouse was automated in 1960. The lens was refurbished and put on display. We were told that it weighs nearly 8000 pounds. The museum curator was kind enough to turn the room lights off and light up the lens from within. The replacement light is actually quite small, but when turned on it is spectacular as it turns." ____________________________________________________________

CAPE DISAPPOINTMENT LIGHT
Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Washington and is still operating. The lighthouse located near Ilwaco is located on the Pacific coast near the Columbia River entrance. Completed in 1856 it helps guide ships along the coastline to the treacherous entrance to the Columbia River.(RL) ______________________________________________________________

BUZZARDS BAY LIGHT
c 1960's "Texas Tower" type was constructed in 1961 and automated in 1981. She was deactivated in 1996 and dismantled being replaced by a 75 foot high tower with three legs. ________________________________________________________________
